Lasst uns den Widerstand gegen das Kohleverlängerungsgesetz auf die Straße tragen.
Kommt am 1. Juli auf die Straße und blockiert die Kohlepartei SPD, bis dieses Gesetz vom Tisch ist!

Millionen Menschen haben im vergangenen Jahr fürs Klima demonstriert – jetzt antwortet die Bundesregierung mit einer schallenden Ohrfeige: Ein Kohle-Verlängerungs-Gesetz, das den Kohleausstieg bis 2038 verschleppt. Am Freitag, den 3. Juli, will die Regierung das Kohle-Gesetz durch den Bundestag peitschen – doch wir leisten Widerstand!
Wir können nicht zulassen, dass die längst unrentable Kohleindustrie mit Staatshilfen künstlich am Leben gehalten wird. Wir können nicht zulassen, dass die Regierung den Kohle-Konzernen ihr klimazerstörerisches Geschäftsmodell vergoldet und damit unsere Zukunft verfeuert. Wir rufen deshalb für den 1. Juli zu einer Aktion des zivilen Ungehorsams an der Parteizentrale der Kohlepartei SPD auf, die als Teil der „großen Kohle-Koalition“ für das zerstörerische Gesetz mitverantwortlich ist.
Wir müssen jetzt handeln, bevor es zu spät ist! Verträge zwischen Regierung und Kohle-Konzernen sollen der Industrie Milliardenzahlungen garantieren. Das ermöglicht Kohle-Weiterbetrieb bis 2038 – und selbst eine neue, andere Regierung könnte dann nicht mehr ohne Weiteres einen früheren Kohleausstieg beschließen. Auch das Schicksal der Dörfer am Tagebau Garzweiler in Nordrhein-Westfalen, deren Bewohner*innen seit Jahren gegen die Abbaggerung kämpfen, soll im Gesetz besiegelt werden. Dieses Gesetz ist eine Kampfansage an die ganze Bewegung für Klimagerechtigkeit.
Damit schafft es die Bundesregierung sogar noch hinter den unzureichenden Forderungen der „Kohlekommission“ zurückzubleiben – und schon damals galt: Das Ergebnis ist kein Konsens, sondern klimapolitischer Wahnsinn. Die Bundesregierung ignoriert somit weiterhin klimawissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse, die Klimaziele des Pariser Abkommens und den Protest von Millionen Menschen auf den Straßen und an den Orten der Zerstörung. Stattdessen arbeitet sie Hand in Hand mit der zerstörerischen Kohlelobby. Die SPD stützt die Kohleindustrie seit Jahrzehnten, wo auch immer sie kann – und macht das Klima zur Nebensache. So auch dieses Mal. Das zeigt uns: Kohleausstieg bleibt Handarbeit.
In der derzeitigen Corona-Krise zeigen sich die Prioritäten der Bundesregierung: Während Beschäftigte im Gesundheitswesen mit symbolischen Gesten abgespeist werden und Menschen an den EU-Außengrenzen sterben, kann sich die fossile Industrie über Milliardengeschenke freuen. Statt Geld für eine gerechte Gesundheitsversorgung von morgen gibt es Geld für Kraftwerke von gestern. Dagegen leisten wir Widerstand – coronasicher mit Abstand und Masken, entschlossen und lautstark.
Eine klimagerechte Welt ist immer noch möglich, wenn wir jetzt handeln! Wir brauchen einen sofortigen Kohleausstieg. Sozial-gerechte Klimaziele müssen zur obersten Priorität politischen Handelns werden. Entschädigungen darf es nicht für die Aktionär*innen der Kohlekonzerne, sondern muss es für die Betroffenen der Klimakrise im Globalen Süden geben. Wir werden dieses Gesetz nicht zulassen und nehmen den Kohleausstieg selbst in die Hand.

Kommt am 1. Juli um 9 Uhr zum Willy-Brandt-Haus, der Partei-Zentrale der SPD, um gemeinsam zu blockieren. Lasst uns gemeinsam ein deutliches Zeichen setzen, dass wir der Bundesregierung ihr Kohleverlängerungsgesetz nicht durchgehen lassen! Jetzt heißt es: Wir setzen dem fossilen Kapitalismus ein Ende!

Prevent coal extension, block coal party SPD!

Let’s take the resistance against the Coal Extension Law to the streets.
Take to the streets on July 1st and block the Coal Party SPD until this law is off the table!

Millions of people demonstrated for the climate last year – now the German government is responding with a resounding slap in the face: a coal extension law that will delay the phase-out of coal until 2038. On Friday, July 3, the government wants to railroad the Coal Act in the Bundestag – but we are resisting!
We cannot allow the long unprofitable coal industry to be kept alive artificially with state aid. We cannot allow the government to gold-plate the coal companies‘ climate-destroying business model and thereby burn our future. We are therefore calling for a campaign of civil disobedience at the headquarters of the Coal Party SPD, which as part of the „Great Coal Coalition“ (Fridays for Future) is co-responsible for the law.
We must act now, before it is too late! Contracts between the government and coal companies are to guarantee the industry billions in payments. This will allow coal to continue to be used until 2038 – and even a new, different government could then no longer easily decide to phase out coal earlier. The fate of the villages around the Garzweiler open-cast mine in North Rhine-Westphalia, whose inhabitants have been fighting against the dredging of the mine for years, is also to be sealed in the law. This law is a declaration of war on the whole movement for climate justice.
With it, the German government even manages to fall short of the insufficient demands of the „coal commission“ – and even then it was clear: the result is no consensus, but climate policy madness. The German government thus continues to ignore climate science findings, the climate goals of the Paris Accord and the protests of millions of people on the streets and in places of destruction. Instead, it works hand in hand with the destructive coal lobby. For decades, the SPD has supported the coal industry wherever it can – and makes the climate a secondary matter. This time is no exception. This shows us: coal phase-out remains manual labour.
The current corona crisis is a clear indication of the German government’s priorities: while health workers are being fobbed off with symbolic gestures and people are dying on the EU’s external borders, the fossil industry can look forward to be gifted billions of Euros. Instead of money for the fair health care of tomorrow, there is money for yesterday’s power plants. We are resisting this – corona-safe with distance and masks, determined and vociferous.
A climate-friendly world is still possible if we act now! We need an immediate coal exit. Socially just climate targets must become the top priority of political action. There must be compensation not for the shareholders of the coal companies, but for those affected by the climate crisis in the Global South. We will not allow this law to be passed and will take the coal phase-out into our own hands.

Come to the Willy Brandt House, the party headquarters of the SPD, on July 1 at 9 a.m. to blockade together. Let us together send a clear signal that we will not let the Federal Government get away with its Coal Extension Law! Now we say: We put an end to fossil capitalism!
